It has been over a year ago that I posted an expression of my thoughts and feelings regarding a person whose presence was felt before she was seen... this time around I hope to express my appreciation to the person that helped me become a man and taught me what it means to be a woman.
Her importance was felt, but in hindsight it was barely recognized. Realizing that I lacked some understandings that could have detrimental outcomes I refrained from imparting influence on interactions that could be based on what 'I wanted/desired'.
A noble intention that underscored the lack of control regarding a instinctual behavior. This is the first thing she taught me:
Lesson 1: Automatiy following instincts can prevent discovery of subtle aspects of a person... and of yourself.
My curiosity peaked with her patience. Her importance began to dawn on me and caused the unexpected redirection of attention inwardly. The comparison of external and internal provided the light needed to see what I had been hiding from myself all along. This included many flawed perceptions that were not directly related as well.
This was the stage in which the play was acted out. The importance I perceived in her became the motivation to discover my short-comings, flaws, mis-perceptions and areas of poor or no understanding.
By no means was this easy and hands down was and still is the most emotionally challenging personal task I have ever experienced.
Lesson 2: Re-inforcing habits that allow you to avoid feeling hurt do not allow you to learn about yourself and correct the behavior that caused it.
Addressing and resolving one almost always uncovered many other hidden aspects that were flawed. I learned to open myself to it. The pain and hurt that was experienced lessened with each introspective pass through my life.
There was a day that arrived that I noticed something different. The time previously spent in my mind providing defense and avoidance measures for those personal flaws was now being spent on observing and taking in the subtle aspects of other people. A richness and depth was gained in my interactions. My appreciation for other grew immensely and still continues now.
The bomb dropped. A life altering perspective change. The fundamental essence of how women naturally experience life. The time spent immersing myself in others instead of mental self-defense stealthly built up sub-concious knowledge that began to connect together. Then one morning life changed.
Words have never been intended to describe the perspective of a womans life experience. Many elegant, beautifully soulful attempts have been made throughout human history... but all of them fall short. My opinion is that if a man wishes to gain such an understanding, the only path is through emotional pure effort of the heart. And that only gets you to the door. To walk through it, much has to change internally.
Lesson 3: Firstly, understanding it continues for the entirity of your life. Women are the most complex creations in this universe. This is not a romantiy charged statement. It is just one of the fundamental principles that govern each and every aspect of this universe. A profound realization that curiously enough leads directly into a comforting feeling. My intention was to express an honest appreciation of someone by sharing what is not normally discussed. The understanding and comprehension of knowledge is and always will be ultimately placed in the hands of the recipient.
What was previously a missed connection through flawed eyes, in reality has shown itself to be more similar to a re-birth. The woman I was able to see then has become in so many ways an expression of poetry.
The words such as 'Desire' and 'Love' have changed in meaning. The tint of selfishness/greed has been replaced with an appreciation natural interactions and their growth.
In my soul, this person will always mark the chapter for the second half of my life. Does she know? Maybe a glimmer of it. When I know that it can be expressed without harm, she will know. But just maybe, that will be my final lesson.
