I don't think any of my points deny your points. Attachment parenting well be a good response to alienation and commercialization. But it has potential to create other issues, including increasing narcissism, neediness, and inability to deal with conflict productively. And while it promotes familial bonding, it is unclear to me how well it promotes other socialization, which leads one to wonder whether it really helps with alienation that much after all, or if it simply makes people more prone to jingoism. My point is really that there is no panacea, but this issue is being presented like it is. That is what concerns me more than anything. Because it is being presented oppositionally (we solve these terrible problems! We are good!) it tends to fall back on the strategy of demonizing or belittling methods that are not it. For instance, if attachment parenting requires a stay at home mother, then it is going to overly benefit middle and upper-middle class women who can afford to live in a single income home, and it end up stigmatizing poorer women who simply can't afford the luxury of staying home without pay.
