The title pretty much sums it up...
I'm a flight instructor out of Santa Monica - and what good is a flight instructor without students? (I'll give you a hint - not very) So as I sit here on my computer staring out at beautiful morning (er...well...beautiful-ish - "marine layer overcast" isn't exactly my favorite weather...but hey, at least it didn't start in the beginning of May this year) I'm also considering how hard it is to meet nice people in LA. Most of us are from somewhere else (I'm from Denver) and probably went into minor shock when we first moved here. The people are...well hey - you folks from LA are wonderful - just not quite what most of us from smaller cities are used to. And I'm told by my female friends that dating in LA is an exercise in extreme frustration.
So here's my solution: Aviation is overwhelming male - which means that if you're a female pilot your odds are much better than at a club. And as a big plus - if you're around pilots who are about to fly they're not drunk like all the fun guys who stumble up to you at a bar (or at least they're not supposed to be - if you see a drunk pilot climbing into a cockpit you should probably the FAA). So since this is sort of a shameless ad as well as a personals ad (for all the other single male pilots - especially the ones at my flight school who could really stand to meet a couple of nice women) you're probably wondering what the catch is? The good news is there really isn't one. If you'd like I'm more than happy to take you for a tour around the flight school and introduce you to some people. The only thing I would ask is that you have at least a passing interest in aviation. We're all pilots, after all - and our idea of a good time is taking a small plane and flying to Catalina for lunch (there's also wine tasting options up north - but just remember most of us have a pretty solid 12 hour bottle-to-throttle rule).
I can hear yourself saying - wow that sounds really great - so what's in it for the guy posting the ad? (Because - to be clear - the dating part isn't for me) Well - nothing much unless you want to take flight lessons to learn to be a pilot (which I'm hoping that some of you out there might actually be interested in). And if not you, maybe someone you know...
So ultimately it's win/win. You get a chance to meet guys in a way you never considered (my best friend would it a "target rich environment") - and I increase my chances of business through word-of-mouth advertising. Plus, I just like seeing people happy :)
Oh one more thing - no you don't have to pay anything for me to show you around. However, if you do end up meeting someone you like through me you're welcome to buy me a coffee (I drink regular coffee - not those fancy half double decaffeinated half-caf, with a twist of lemon ones ***extra points if you can tell me where that coffee quote is from***).
Sorry for the cheesy pics - sadly I don't have too many "serious" ones. But hey, considering what I've seen most of the guys on Craigslist posting, I suppose we should all be thankful that I'm fully clothed.
